CHESHIRE wine lovers are being invited to pop over to Greater Manchester to enjoy a festival dedicated to all things sparkling next month.

Altrincham Town Hall will once more host the Fizz Festival from Cracking Wine, now in its second year.

Last year’s event was a sell-out success with around 400 people attending and this year the event will take place on November 12 and 13 between 12pm and 3pm and 4pm and 7pm.

The weekend will also include the 'Fizz Festival People's Choice Awards, which takes place on November 13 between 7.30pm and 9pm. Tickets are £25 per person for the event.

At the two-day festival, there will be a huge range of fizz on offer, more than 100 wines, from Cava and Prosecco through to award-winning English sparkling wine and of course, Champagne.

Visitors can try, buy and learn more about this celebration wine. There will also be exciting masterclasses and special ‘show offers’ with exclusive discounts only available at the festival.

Champagne Laurent-Perrier, a family owned ‘Grande Marque’ representing quality, finesse and elegance will be joined by Hush Heath, an award winning English vineyard bringing their delicious Balfour range to the show plus Champagne Thienot, the youngest family owned Champagne house and previous ‘official Champagne’ of the Oscars for two years running.

This year sees Chester and Shrewsbury-based Tanners Wine Merchants bringing a fantastic range of Champagne and sparkling wine – some under their own label. They have even more to celebrate having recently scooped a top retailer award from the prestigious Decanter magazine:

The awards evening has been expanded with more categories, including best Champagne, best sparkling wine from the UK and best sparkling wine from the rest of the world.

Festival organiser Janet Harrison believes it is important that the consumer has an opportunity to say which wines they think are the best and that it sends an important message to producers.

“They are the people who buy it after all," she added.

"The festival has a thoroughly modern feel with no snobbery and a fun and informal atmosphere. It really does attract those who want to know more about their favourite sparklers and what better way to do that and stock up for Christmas at the same time?"
