ANTIQUES experts are offering valuations to people in Wilmslow in return for a donation to a children's charity.

Householders with furniture, jewellery, ceramics and other collectibles can take them along to be valued by the experts on tomorrow(Thursday, July 16), from 11am to 3pm, in return for a donation to Francis House Hospice. To date more than £500 has been raised.

Francis House Children’s Hospice cares for over 370 sick children, teenagers and young adults with a short life expectancy.

The hospice offers support, friendship and short breaks of respite care for the whole family. The hospice needs over £3.6 million in donations each year to continue to provide its services.

Experts from the Derbyshire based Hansons auctioneers and valuers, will be on hand to educate and inform people in return for a donation to the hospice.

The charity valuations first came about after Wilmslow residents Louise and Robert Craft took a fur coat owned by Robert’s mother to be valued by Hansons.

Subsequently, the couple approached The Coach & Four pub, Alderley Road(SK9 1PA), and a series of monthly charity dates were agreed.

Previous valuations in April, May and June, resulted in a variety of prized possessions including a Samurai sword, Noritake vases and antique dolls, coming under the scrutiny of the team of experts.

Alan and Brenda Lathwood, who brought along a tipstaff bought at a car boot sale in 2010 for £10 were told it could be worth between £50 and £80 by Prestbury based Antiques Road Trip expert and presenter Margie Cooper

£500 in donations to Francis House have been raised to date.

The next event at The Coach & Four, 69/71 Alderley Road, Wilmslow SK9 1PA is taking place on Thursday July 16 from 11 am to 3pm

Future dates include August 20, September 17, October 15 and November 19.
