VIDEO and PICTURES: Thousands flock to third annual Wilmslow Motor Show

The events which is organised by the Wilmslow Business Group saw the appearance of more than 100 prestige limousines and supercars on display through the centre of Wilmslow.

Car enthusiasts of all ages enjoyed the spectacle which included a chance to see two exclusive Ferrari's - an F12 Novitec N Largo and a Novitec N Largo La Ferrari.

The highlight for many was the supercar parade, which saw over 40 cars making their way through the town. Despite steady rain, onlookers lined the route to get a view, and were rewarded with a spectacular display of cars snaking their way through the streets.

Event manager Georgie Johnson said “What an amazing day. Everyone involved has worked really hard to make the event a success and to see so many people enjoying themselves, is what it’s all about.

We are grateful to all the volunteers who gave up their time to help out on the day and special thanks must go to Steve Kennedy of Mailboxes Etc., who has worked tirelessly with us to make the event happen.”

Catherine Mackenzie, chairman of Wilmslow Business Group said, “An event like the motor show really helps to put Wilmslow on the map. We have seen thousands of visitors of all ages come to the town, not only to enjoy some amazing cars, but to enjoy what Wilmslow has on offer. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported the event and made it happen.”

Meanwhile retailers had a great day too, and the town was buzzing with people enjoying the atmosphere created by some of the most incredible cars on the planet. Coffee shops, cafes and restaurants saw their takings rise as visitors made the most of what is on offer in the town.

James Hanson, the owner of Rise Coffee Shop said, “We had a great day. We started extra early and made sure that everyone had coffee and bacon sandwiches while they were working to set up the show. It’s been wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves – Wilmslow has a lot to offer.”

Sporting Bears also had a successful day offering Dream Rides for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust which saw more £2,000 being donated towards helping disabled and disadvantaged children.

Alistair Laing of CAFT said: “We are grateful to the visitors to Wilmslow Motor Show who gave so generously . And of course to Sporting Bears who gave up their time – and their cars - to raise money for charity.”

Simon Dixon of Cheshire Police added:"The Wilmslow Motor Show is a fantastic event bringing in thousands of visitors, and the fact Cheshire Police are given the space to show our vehicles, is great chance for the public to see what we are really about, and to raise any local concerns.

The 'Think Car' allows us to put across the message that, in addition to all the fantastic cars on the day, there is also the reality of driving on the roads to consider. Being able to demonstrate this at an event such as the motor show is invaluable."

The next event from the Wilmslow Business Group events team is the Wilmslow Community Awards, which will recognise volunteers, community leaders, community organisations and local businesses who work within the community to make a positive difference.

The deadline for nominating your local heroes is September 30 – look out for nominations forms in local retailers. The awards ceremony will take place on November 19, at Wilmslow Leisure Centre, and tickets will go on sale soon.
