AN estate agent based in Wilmslow and Alderley Edge has teamed up with a record breaking Paralympian to decide who is to be shortlisted for a slice of a £25,000 grant fund.

Gascoigne Halman, met with the high profile Community Challenge judging panel this week, and shortlisted the community groups who will get a slice of the giveaway money.

The stellar judging panel includes Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, David Briggs M.E, and Dame Sarah Storey, cyclist with the Great Britain team and former international swimmer with major achievements including 21 World championship titles (six in swimming and 15 in cycling) and 72 world records.

Also part of the panel is BBC breakfast television presenter, Louise Minchin, John Halman, managing director of Gascoigne Halman, and Diana Stephenson, managing director of Calvin Marketing.

In celebration of Gascoigne Halman reaching their 25 year mile stone, the agency created a £25,000 Community Challenge to reward organisations that give something back to the community they serve and which have a positive impact on the lives of local people.

Shortlisted applicants will be announced later this month and the successful applicants will be announced in November.

John Halman said: “We received 188 fantastic entries for the £25,000 challenge and it was very difficult to narrow them down to the shortlist.

"Each judge came to the table with their own shortlist and we deliberated over the entries to create an overall list.

“Louise Minchin was unable to attend the judging day but she sent her own shortlist to us and we look forward to seeing her again later this year.”
