A CHARITY in Cheshire East which provides information to the over 50s has won a quality kitemark
Age UK has been re-awarded the prestigious Advice Quality Standard Certificate AQS), for its help to members of the public on social welfare issues.
During the audit process, undertaken last autumn, the charity’s key areas, including access to service, people management, meeting clients’ needs and commitment to quality, were measured by auditors.
The audit recognised that the organisation made effective use of volunteers and the skills and harness the enthusiasm they bring to the role.
Currently, six volunteers assist a team of staff members, who provide advice across the area, from the charity’s base in Macclesfield, through to home visits and outreach locations across the borough.
Information and advice service manager for the charity, Jennette Brown: “The re-award of the quality standard is a great reward for all the hard work and sound advice that our staff and volunteers give to older people each year.
"Each year, we provide this free service to over 2,000 older people, advising them on a wide range of issues from finding help at home, benefits and residential care, through to health and disability issues, housing and family matters."
