A WILMSLOW steakhouse is bringing a taste of South American vibrancy to Cheshire in aid of a good cause.

CAU, Water Lane, has launched #CAUnival – a month-long festival inspired by the Dia del Amigo public holiday, which is observed across Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

To mark the occasion, which celebrates friendship, kindness and sharing, CAU are raising money for Action Against Hunger.

The charity, which helped 14.9million people in 2015, provides access to safe water and nutrition to some of the world’s most malnourished children.

A CAU spokesperson said: “CAU chose Action Against Hunger as their partner charity because of their commitment to ending child hunger.

“As a restaurant our aim is to bring people joy through food, and by working with AAH we are able to bring disadvantaged children world over a little of this joy.”

Taking centre stage at the restaurant is the #CAUnival burger, crafted by CAU executive chef James Garland and Food Tube’s Christian Stevenson, better known as DJ BBQ.

The special edition 6oz beef burger – made with cuts of chuck, flank and brisket – comes topped with Monterey Jack cheese and a generous dollop of fiery chimichurri sauce.

For every #CAUnival burger ordered, £1 will be donated to Action Against Hunger, which could help provide a day’s nutritional supplies or therapeutic food for a severely malnourished child.

Other specials on the #CAUnival set menu include the Brazilian Pollo de Coxinha street food croquettes, Coconut Monk Fish, and Bean Feijoada topped with Aju Amerillo-infused yoghurt.

Diners will also be able to enjoy a bespoke #CAUnival playlist, with a limited edition playlist created by DJ BBQ to be made available on vinyl.

The restaurant is also running a social media competition, giving customers the chance to win a trip for two to the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.

CAU Wilmslow is part of a 20-strong chain which won the OpenTable Diner’s Choice award in 2015.

#CAUnival will run throughout August.
