POLICE are appealing for information after a 16-year-old girl was touched inappropriately in Handforth.

The victim, from Stockport, had been walking down an alleyway between Lower Meadow Road and Brooke Way shortly after 8pm on Monday, August 22, when she was approached from behind by a lone man.

The offender grabbed the victim from behind and touched her inappropriately, before releasing her and fleeing the scene in the direction of Handforth Dean industrial estate.

The man is described as white, in his mid to late 20s, 5ft 10 inches tall, with dark brown hair – which is almost black – and unkempt facial hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey snap back cap with a batman logo, a mid-blue t-shirt with a pale blue logo on the front, and black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with strips running from mid-calf down to the end of outside each leg.

Sgt Angela Coppock, the investigating officer, said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of my investigation I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and believes they may have seen anything suspicious.

“Although this incident occurred in in an isolated location, this alleyway is often used as a shortcut between Handforth Dean and Handforth Town centre, so I do believe that there would have been other people in the area around the time the incident occurred.”

Any witnesses should contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 847 of August 22, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
