THE LONG-RUNNING battle for development at a former Alderley Edge nightclub appears to be almost over following the appointment of a design firm.

Altrincham-based Calderpeel Architects has been awarded the contract to design 12 new bungalows on the former Yesterdays site – one of three north west luxury home schemes awarded to the firm worth around £14.5m.

Yesterdays, Harden Park, closed its doors 12 years ago and the building has since stood derelict, attracting vandalism.

Regency Residential’s development scheme, which has been supported by Alderley Edge Parish Council and received planning permission last month, will see 12 four-bed single-storey homes built on the four-acre green belt site.

The homes will be built around a lake and feature flat ‘green’ roofs designed to minimise visual impact on the surrounding area.

Ewen Miller, managing director of Calderpeel Architects, said: “Activity in the luxury residential market remains steady and we continue to receive a flux of enquiries for these high-quality developments, as well as projects in the ‘superhome’ category.

“It’s credit to the team we’ve built at Calderpeel that we continue to be appointed by some of the most respected names in residential development in the region.”
