KNUTSFORD-born Sunny Ormonde, star of BBC Radio 4’s The Archers, will be delighting audiences across Cheshire this autumn.

The actor, who has played Lilian Bellamy on the radio show for the past 16 years, will first perform in Kelsall and Wilmslow, before another two dates later in the year.

During the show, entitled “Sunny Ormonde - The One”, Sunny will entertain audiences with tales of her distinguished career. She will perform at Kelsall Primary School on Friday, September 30 at 7.30pm, followed by Wilmslow Library on Saturday, October 1 at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show, which is suitable for ages 16 and above, are available directly from the venues and can be booked by calling 01829 751 031 for Kelsall or 01625 374 060 for Wilmslow.

Tickets for the Wilmslow performance can also be booked online at cheshireruraltouringarts.co.uk.

Sunny Ormonde’s portrayal of the “outrageous and raunchy” Lilian Bellamy has made her one of The Archers listeners’ favourite characters.

Her antics have kept the nation gripped and entertained, whether it be riding round Ambridge on a Harley Davidson, drinking The Bull and the cider shed dry with Eddie Grundy, or absconding to Costa Rica with her beloved and very recently departed Tiger!

During “Sunny Ormonde - The One”, Sunny will fill audiences in on favourite pieces from her long and distinguished acting career, including Shirley Valentine and Under Milk Wood, and behind-the-scenes stories from The Archers, the world’s longest running soap opera, that are both humorous and touching in turn.

There will also be a question and answer session with the audience about the making of the Archers during the show.

Speaking ahead of her tour Sunny said: "Having been born in Knutsford, I am so looking forward to performing my show in the county in which I grew up. Lots of the stories in my show are about my Cheshire years and I cannot wait to share them and meet all of the lovely Cheshire audiences!“

In November, Sunny will perform two further shows; in Norley Village Hall on Friday, November 18 at 7.30pm and The Goodwill Hall in Faddiley on Saturday, November 19 at 7.30pm.

Tickets can be booked by calling 07770 701 069 for Norley and 01270 524 441 for Faddiley.

All the shows form part of Cheshire Rural Touring Arts’ autumn season of touring, taking professional arts events to rural venues and libraries across the county.
