POLICE are again appealing for information following reports of a man acting suspiciously in Styal.

Members of the public reported seeing a man wearing women’s underwear in woodland near Adlington Road at approximately 12pm on Thursday, September 22.

Officers attended the scene, but were unable to find any trace of the man.

The man is described as being white, in his late 20s to early 30s, of slim build and with short, brown hair.

Investigations in relation to the incident are currently ongoing, but Cheshire Police suspects that the incident is related to previous incidents involving a suspicious man in the area over the past two months.

Sgt Angela Coppock said: “Over the past two months there have been a number of incidents of a similar nature in the Styal area and we are keen to trace the person responsible.

“In each of the incidents the man hasn’t approached anyone, but has caused alarm to those who have seen him.

“We would like to reassure residents that patrols have been increased in the local area and I would urge anyone who has any information on this man or sees him to contact us.”

The Guardian reported on three similar incidents last month in the area, where a man was seen wearing women’s underwear in the Adlington Road area.

On one occasion the man followed a woman who was jogging in the woods near the River Bollin while touching himself inappropriately.

Anyone with information on the man or who sees him should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 341 of September 22, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
