A WILMSLOW business group has been recognised for its work in helping small companies reach a bigger customer base.

The Chapel Lane Business Group, run by Julie Dawn Potts, received a community service award from the Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club on Tuesday, September 13.

Julie was presented with the award by Colin Eggleton, president of the Rotary Club, at a special dinner.

“I was invited to a Rotary Club dinner and I had no idea why, so I was completely surprised when they presented me with the award,” she said.

“The group is all about improving awareness and marketing for small businesses on the lane, many of whom have just one or two members of staff, and can’t spend their time on marketing.

“We’ve been campaigning for better signage in the area, and were able to raise some awareness with the orange bikes in the area during the Tour of Britain.

“Some residents have commented that they have already noticed a difference in the area.”

The group has meetings three times a year, and holds events to increase the vibrancy of Chapel Lane.
