A LEADING cancer charity is looking for some extra help in Wilmslow and Alderley Edge in the run-up to Christmas.
Marie Curie requires more volunteers to help staff its cash collections at supermarkets in the area, to help raise funds towards one-to-one nursing care for terminally ill people in their own home.
Jess Herrington, community fundraiser for Marie Curie, is asking for volunteers to give two hours of their time to the cause.
“We have amazing volunteers and a fantastic fundraising group, but we always need more to make sure we don’t miss out on valuable donations from festive shoppers,” she said.
“We’re really lucky that local supermarkets and shopping centres have been so generous in offering us dates to collect – we just want to make the most of this opportunity to raise much needed funds for end of life care.
“Christmas is a time for families and our nurses will again be working over the festive period to provide vital care and treatment to people with cancer and other terminal illnesses, enabling them to be at home, surrounded by their families and the things they hold most dear.”
