THE girlfriend of a murder victim has denied knowing he could have been involved with drugs.

On day four of the trial, the girlfriend, Anna Bubrowska, was seen on video being questioned by police just days after the murder of Sebastian Zuchlinski, who died in a brutal attack in Davenport Street, Bolton,  in February last year.

Tomasz Bubrowski, aged 39, of Cavendish Gardens, Bolton denies murdering Mr Zuchlinski.

In the interview Ms Bubrowska explained to police how she had been alerted to the attack just yards from her home by her sister Beata, who had been with him when it took place.

It is claimed he had gone out to get some shoes to replace his trainers so that he could gain entrance to a Polish party being held at Bolton's Level nightclub.

She said: "When I saw him there, my heart stopped breathing, I was in shock. I just saw blood everywhere and I saw the cuts.

"I saw the cuts and his finger and everybody looking at him. He was lay on the pavement on his back. There were loads of people just watching, just standing there."

Under cross examination by a live video link, Benjamin Myers QC asked what Miss Bubrowska had meant when she told police that she had said of her partner's work: "I don't go into the work thing. I really don't ask what he was doing."

Mr Myers asked: "Was it cannabis or amphetamines?"

Ms Bubrowska said: "No"

The trial continues.
