A FIRE at the children's play area in Lacey Green Park last night is believed to have been started deliberately.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue was called out to the incident in Barlow Road at 11.48pm on Wednesday, April 12, where a wheelie bin had been found alight on top of a park bench in the play area.

One fire engine from Wilmslow attended the incident, where firefighters extinguished the blaze with water.

Police were later informed of the incident, which firefighters believe was started deliberately.

Last month, both Cheshire Fire and Rescue and Cheshire Police urged residents to stop committing arson after a series of hay fires in Styal - one of which stopped Wilmslow firefighters from attending an emergency on the A538.

Anyone with information regarding the fire can contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 13 of April 13.

Meanwhile, firefighters were also called out to a farm trailer fire in Chorley last night.

One engine from Wilmslow and one from Cheadle attended the incident in Chelford Road, where two hose reel jets tackled the blaze.
