THE team behind Wilmslow in Bloom is refusing to rest on its award-winning laurels ahead of this year’s competition.

Having scooped the Gold award for the past three years running, organisers want more people than ever before to get involved with this year’s entry.

This year the theme is ‘Walk on the Wild Side’, which will celebrate planting in the town and encourage residents to make the most of wild spaces and wild flowers.

It will also aim to encourage residents to help the habitats of creatures such as hedgehogs, bees and bugs.

Ruth McNulty, chairman of Wilmslow in Bloom, said: “Wilmslow always puts on a great show for the In Bloom judges and we’d love to keep our gold run going.

“Look out for the entry leaflets, which will be distributed to businesses over the next couple of weeks and please get involved.

“The community support is what makes our entry stand out.  We’d love as many people to get involved as possible.”

Started by the Incredible Edible group, Edible Wilmslow in Bloom has encouraged more than 80 businesses, several voluntary groups and the town council to get involved and help Wilmslow ‘burst with colour’.

Planters can be put out from June onwards, so there is still plenty of time for residents to get planning ahead of the competition.

Wilmslow in Bloom also wants as many youngsters as possible to take part with this year’s ‘Walk on the Wild Side’ theme, and primary schools will be planting special displays in the town centre and making bug huts.
