RESIDENTS have hit out at a fresh bid to demolish a property in Adlington Road and build seven new homes in its place.
The bid follows a similar application for nine homes at the same site, which was withdrawn last December, and many residents are hoping for the same outcome.
Peter Attwell, of Adlington Road, said: “The number of houses proposed is far too many for the size of the site.
“The houses themselves and the layout is out of keeping with houses in the local area.”
Nicholas Jones, of Ridgeway, added: “Seven dwellings, with their required road access on the convexity of a road bend, will substantially increase road danger and will lead to a deterioration in the nature of the environment for current residents.”
Jones Homes, which has constructed the neighbouring Bollin Park development, has also stated its opposition to the plans – claiming they don’t ‘respect the local character’.
The application is expected to be discussed at a northern planning committee meeting on Wednesday, June 7.
