STAFF and shoppers at Tesco Handforth Dean have raised more than £1,600 for the We Love Manchester Appeal.

From Friday, June 9, to Sunday, June 11, staff at the supermarket could dress down for a donation, while customers bought a host of We Love Manchester merchandise for the fund.

Over the course of the weekend, £1,607.78 was raised for the fund, which goes to the support the victims and bereaved from last month’s terror attack at Manchester Arena.

Meanwhile, Tesco stores in SK9 are continuing their Bags of Help scheme, which has seen shoppers vote for three community groups to win grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 from the 5pm carrier bag levy.

Friends of Stanley Hall Park, in Handforth, Alderley Edge Community Primary School and the Alderley Edge Partnership are all bidding for votes until Friday, June 30.
