THE borough is set to get festive with the free Trafford Live event on Saturday, June 24.

Organiser say the event, held at Trafford Town Hall, will have something for the whole family and will be brought together by a wide range of groups.

Celebrating the best of Trafford, there will be 10 festival zones, a bouncy castle, climbing wall, Lego, live performances, sports activities, bike checks and more., from 11am to 4pm.

With the event coinciding with the national Armed Forces Day, 207 Field Hospital and 103 Royal Artillery will be joining the celebrations at the town hall and will include handling military objects with the Imperial Museum North as well as meeting local veterans.

Sean Anstee, leader of Trafford Council, said: "Following the horrific recent attack in Manchester, it has been heartening to see such strong community spirit shining through across Greater Manchester.

"Trafford Live is another example of how strong partnership working can work to bring together communities and organisations.

"The day promises to offer so much and it will be fantastic to see as many people from all our communities coming together to enjoy a day of fun, activities and enjoyment."

As part of the event there will also be a preview of the town hall as a wedding venue, with a number of their different suppliers showcasing their music, floristry, venue dressing and photography.

There is no need to book, you can just turn up to look at the venue which has been described as 'unique' due to its grand staircase, formal sunken gardens and an intimate courtyard garden.

The event has only been made possible thanks to a number of groups wanting to bring the together communities such as SEA LIFE Manchester, the Manchester United Foundation, Legoland Discovery Centre, RSPB and others.
