THERE was magic in the air in Alderley Edge as the Wizard Walk returned to raise money for a youngster’s treatment for a curved spine.

Nine-year-old Max Bailey has scoliosis, and has already seen the curve in his spine be reduced by more than 50 per cent having begun treatment in the USA last year.

With treatment required every three months, the Wizard Walk took place for a second year in a row on Sunday, June 18, to help fund his trips across the pond.

Saz Bailey, Max’s mum and event organiser, told the Guardian: “The event is very much about raising awareness of Max’s condition.

“It was a shame we didn’t get last years numbers even though people had bought tickets – we think due to the weather.

“But there were enough people there for it to be a nice event, and it was nice to chill out in the pub afterwards.”

Max will go out for his next round of treatment on Saturday, July 1, while the next fundraising event will be a Tough Mudder challenge in Cholmondey on Saturday, September 9.
