A TRAFFORD stalwart has been honoured in the 2017 Queen's birthday honours list.

Janice Lindsay Hartley, 53, who lives in Bowdon, has worked for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for 35 years and has now received recognition for her achievements.

Janice has been awarded with a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) for services to the Development of Universal Credit in the recent honours list.

At the DWP, she is the department’s implementation and delivery director for the Universal Credit Programme that has combined various benefits into one payment for customers.

Janice said: "I am thrilled and overwhelmed to receive this award.

"I have always been immensely proud of working in the public sector, and of the great work we do collectively to serve the public in DWP."

Nineteen staff from across the DWP received awards in the Queen's recent honours list after going above and beyond their duties and making a real difference in their day to day lives.

Janice is one of four people from Trafford to receive an honour in the honours list.
