THE family of a teenage girl who died following a collision have paid tribute to her.

Demi Paige Grewer, 18, from Manchester, died following the incident on the Wilmslow-By-Pass in the early hours yesterday.

In a statement her family said: "Our beautiful daughter and loving sister was taken too soon.

"Demi had an infectious laugh and was so bubbly, she loved life, her job and gave it everything.

"She had just turned 18 and couldn't wait to start her adult life. We beam with pride as we see what a wonderful young lady she was. Our heart breaks as we have to say goodbye.

"Darren says she always rang 'daddy day care' for her lifts.

"She was truly loved by her friends and family and will be missed by everyone."

Police investigating the fatal crash are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

At about 3.30am officers were called to reports of a collision on the dual carriageway A34 Birrell Way, at the roundabout junction with the A538 Manchester Road.

Officers who attended the scene found that a white Vauxhall Mokka had crashed into street furniture.

“The passenger in the car, an 18-year-old woman from Manchester, was taken to hospital and died a short time later,” said a Cheshire Police spokesman.

“Her next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.”

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has been released under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any information, is asked to contact Cheshire Police by calling 101, quoting incident 147 of July 23.
