KEEPING the children busy during the holidays can often be a chore, but at Quarry Bank this summer you can turn hard work into fun.

‘Mr Ardgraft’ and ‘Mrs Slogg’ are looking for cobble collectors, thieving toe-rags and poop scoopers to help them complete their collection of the worst children’s jobs in history.

“The list of worst jobs is about to get even longer for the summer holidays,” said Programming Officer Suzanne Bowling.

“Families are really enjoying collecting up the horse poo, picking the vegetables and sifting through the rocks.”

The Worst Children’s Jobs in History combines Sir Tony Robinson’s captivating Worst Jobs series with the archive at Quarry Bank.

The result is a modern twist on some of the most exhausting, dirtiest and disgusting jobs the child workers ever had to carry out when they worked for the Greg family.

Other challenges include scaring birds, catching moles and sweeping chimneys.

“We will have visitors grafting in the garden, muckin’ in at the mill and working ‘ard in the Apprentice House,” said Suzanne.

“There will be no room for slackers as ‘Mr Ardgraft’ and ‘Mrs Slogg’ will be keeping a watchful eye over everyone.”
