GHOST writer Liz Wallis is to bring her comic take on online dating for women back to Wilmslow because of the ‘amazing’ reaction she had to Sunday’s performance.

Liz, from Wilmslow, performed Tinderella Nights – The Ballad of Lizzy Wallis – at The Old Dancer, before she takes the show to the Free Fringe in Edinburgh next month.

The performance tells of Liz’s experiences, following the death of her husband Andrew, of dating via the Tinder app.

Liz’s life changed completely in 2014 following Andrew’s death at the age of 42, and she switched track from quantity surveying to ghost writing, with ambitions of becoming a professional writer.

“A few years of musical theatre took place in my 20s, but then life got in the way, and I abandoned dreams of audiences and concentrated on being a grown-up,” said Liz.

“When my husband died I announced life was too short and wrote a bucket list that included performing again.

“So now, like a crazy person, I am taking my one-woman show to the Edinburgh Fringe.

“Sunday night was my first performance in public in more than 12 years. I spent the day throwing up through nerves and realising I had forgotten every word I'd written and practised for the last three months.

“About 40 people turned out on the night, and everyone seemed to have a fabulous time. The feedback was amazing and very constructive.

“I learned a lot, and with a bit of tweaking I think I'm finally ready for Edinburgh. I'm a lot less nervous and people have been really supportive.

“The Old Dancer team were incredible for letting me perform, and I can't thank them enough.

“I should also thank my wonderful friends and the strangers who took a chance and came to see me and bravely sat on the front row as my friends hid at the back!

“I will be bringing the show back to Wilmslow in September, and The Old Dancer have said come back anytime.

“I'll have 26 shows under my belt by then, so the nerves should have vanished.

“There is also a late-night version which I have had to promise Sunday's audience I will perform - so Wilmslow should get ready!”
