AN investgation has been launched into an alleged affair between an inmate and a prison officer at Styal Prison.
A male officer is under scrutiny after details of the alleged relationship surfaced with a female prisoner.
Cheshire Police is set to study the claims which involve a 49-year-old prison officer and the woman.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “We are investigating an allegation of misconduct in a public position at HMP Styal in Wilmslow.
“A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the allegation and has been released on police bail. Enquiries are ongoing.”
The Ministry of Justice confirmed the police investigation but would not comment.
A spokesman or MoJ said: “A police investigation is underway so it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
