RESIDENTIAL home manager Marie Sharp is looking forward to working with ‘the brilliant team’ at the home.

The Hawthorns, the Minster Care-run residential home in Wilmslow, has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Marie as the new home manager.

Marie, who has worked in the care sector for more than 30 years, began her career as a trainee care assistant before working her way up to Registered Manager.

She has a wealth of experience in residential, dementia and nursing care and has commissioned extra care schemes, opening care services for young adults and adults with physical disabilities.

Marie’s qualifications include a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care and the Registered Manager's Award.

She is working towards a postgraduate degree in Health and Social Care Management.

During a recent inspection of The Hawthorns, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) awarded the home a ‘Good’ rating, saying the service was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Marie said: “I'm delighted to be joining the team at The Hawthorns.

“My new colleagues have given me such a warm welcome, and I've really enjoyed getting to know our residents.

“I look forward to working with the brilliant team here to ensure that The Hawthorns continues to champion person-centred care with a focus on ensuring residents' independence and quality of life."

Sheila Wood-Townend, regional manager at Minster Care Group, said: “Marie's strong track record in the care sector makes her ideally placed to lead the team at The Hawthorns.

“I'm confident she will go above and beyond to deliver the outstanding care Minster Care homes are known for.”

The CQC report followed an unannounced inspection at the home on July 25.

The report said: “The registered manager of the service had resigned from their post on July 21.

“A team leader had received handover information from the registered manager and was now an interim deputy manager. They were supported by the home service manager and the provider.

“The provider was actively recruiting for a new registered manager.”

The Minster Care Group operates 60 nursing and residential homes across the UK.
