TATTON MP Esther McVey has unveiled new seating at the Wilmslow Green Room Theatre and launched the company’s new season.

The Chapel Lane theatre had seating to accommodate 85 theatre-goers, but is now able to cater for 103 people with its new, more cushioned seating, which was funded by the company.

“Esther is a very approachable lady and the Green Room is looking forward to welcoming her to the theatre,” said the company’s publicity officer Hilary Pinnock.

“We’ve even told her she’ll be expected to take on a ‘walk-on’ part at some point in the future!”

Ms McVey said: “I am not sure whether you launch, unveil or reveal new seats, but I was delighted to be invited to do whichever of those is appropriate for the Green Room, and can confirm they are extremely comfortable.

“It was such a pleasure to hear that the company is in its 93rd year and they play to such full houses, and have used this opportunity to increase their capacity, which is fantastic to hear in this day and age.

“Although I did suggest I have a walk-on role in their next production, I am not sure how I would manage that with my work in Parliament!”
