VILLAGERS are invited to get in the ‘swing’ to celebrate the refurbishment of the Festival Hall at Alderley Edge.

The celebrations take place at the hall on Friday, October 20, at Noffin’s – a themed 50s-style American diner.

The night of nostalgia will also celebrate the publication of a new light-hearted book about the history of Alderley Edge written by resident John Wallace.

The hall in Talbot Road has been refurbished by Alderley Edge Parish Council, and parish councillor Mike Dudley-Jones is inviting residents to join in the celebrations.

“At last the Festival Hall refurbishment is complete, and now it’s time to celebrate,” he said.

“So come and join us at a night of nostalgia at the soon-to-be famous Noffin’s Diner on the evening of October 20.

“Noffin’s is a themed 1950s-style American diner with great food – hot dogs, burgers, fries, chilli and chicken – great music from our band Yessir and all the music of the 50s and 60s from our DJ Dapper Dan.

“There will be a full bar and Buds a-plenty, all looked after by our great Noffin’s diner staff, who will make the evening swing.

“So dust off your stuff and get ready to indulge in some serious sounds from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey to Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan and Elvis, Little Richard and Eddie Cochran.

“Take yourself back to the fun of the Alderley Edge Regal of the past, and celebrate the future of this great building.

“John Wallace has written a beautiful, light-hearted book on the history of the hall, and it seems right that it should be launched at this great night.

“So come and get yourself a launch date copy of this wonderful ‘coffee table’ book.”

The evening starts at 7pm, and tickets are £17, available from The Festival Hall, Rainbow Balloons and Travel by Design.

The hall hosts Manford’s Comedy Night on October 27.
