ENVIRONMENTAL consultants Tyler Grange were honoured at the Local Hero Awards.

The Wilmslow-based team were up against some of the best businesses across Cheshire, and were crowned winners of the Local Business of the Year award.

The company impressed the judges, and category sponsor Thorneycroft Solicitors, with their initiatives to make the company a great place to work.

These range from a paid day once a month for all employees to undertake voluntary work in the community, their birthday day off every year on top of a generous annual leave entitlement, a community fund that is split between charities of the employees choosing, and two all-staff parties every year.

The community day initiative gives staff a break from office life and encourages them to get out into the community and volunteer.

Local food banks, dog homes, the elderly and Cheshire Rangers have all benefited from this idea.

On picking up the award, three employees raised a laugh across the room as they were all called Laura - Laura Dennis, senior ecologist, Laura Mason, landscape consultant and Laura Peters, office manager were delighted to collect the award.

“The award meant so much to us,” said Laura Dennis.

“To be recognised for the efforts we have put into making our company a great place to work, as well as giving back to our local community, is an honour.”

Tyler Grange offer three services which help sites through planning permission in landscape planning, ecology and arboriculture working on a range of complex sites across the region.
