PARTY goers enjoyed being in the dog house at the weekend for a fundraiser with a difference.

The Plough and Flail pub at Mobberley hosted a dogs’ tea party organised by Cheshire Socialites and sponsored by Barkers of Wilmslow.

The event raised funds for the IAPWA charity, which provides veterinary care and support to thousands of dogs and cats every year.

“The tea party was the first of its kind in Cheshire where your dog has a place at the table and not the owners,” said Cheshire Socialites MD Joanna Scott-Aspray.

“The outdoor area was transformed into a dog’s delight, with tea party decorations, a large banquet-style table laid out with name cards for each furry friend, pawsecco and dog beers with meatloaf, cakes and biscuits which were served on cake stands.

“There was a welcome carpet, a special doggy photo booth and an In The Dog House bar, with stalls for shopping.

“Dogs enjoyed a mini-agility course and bone hunt in the meadow, and went home with goody bags with lots of treats inside including a toy each from Barkers.

“There was also a doggy cake, which was cut up and given out to take home.”

Magali Gorre, the former RHOCheshire TV star and her dog Lulu were special guests at the party.

The Cheshire Magazine sponsored the rosettes for the best fancy dress outfits and presented these on the day.

Eddie won third prize for his tarantula outfit, Chewie and Bobby won joint second for their matching tuxedos, and first prize went to Yogi, for his country gentleman outfit.

Caroline Terrington, manager at The Plough and Flail said: “We are thrilled to have been part of this unique event. All the dogs and their owners had a brilliant afternoon and we helped raise money for a great cause.”

Joanna added: “We are extremely proud of this event. We raised much-needed funds for the IAPWA and raised awareness about the wonderful work they do.

“Thank you to everyone who attended and to all the wonderful businesses that contributed towards the raffle and the stallholders.

“We endeavour to keep fundraising, with more events for this amazing charity next year, with a Dogs Brunch and Walk already booked for April 22, 2018. We also have plans for a spectacular ball later in the year.”
