CHILDREN sang their hearts out to entertain residents with festive favourites at a Retirement Living development in Wilmslow.

The choir from St Anne’s Fulshaw Primary School joined homeowners and staff at McCarthy and Stone’s Lawson Grange.

The Sing Your Heart Out event at the Holly Road North development was one of a series of musical performances taking place up and down the country to raise funds for the Royal Voluntary Service.

In 1977, McCarthy and Stone opened its first retirement development.

To mark the 40th anniversary since the opening the developer has partnered with Royal Voluntary Service on a series of fundraising initiatives throughout 2017, with the aim of raising £130,000 to support projects across the country.

Iain Skelton, house manager at Lawson Grange, said: “Our Sing Your Heart Out event was a huge success.

“The choir was in fine voice, it was great to hear everyone joining in with a fantastic repertoire of festive favourites, and it really was an uplifting afternoon.

“We have had a superb year of fundraising so far as part of our anniversary celebrations, and Sing Your Heart Out was another example of this.

“McCarthy and Stone is dedicated to enhancing our homeowners’ lives in so many ways, so it made perfect sense to support a charity during our 40th year which shares our values.

“It has been very rewarding to watch the fundraising total increase over the last 12 months, and to have played a part in this success.”

Reception teacher Sharon Dale said: “We loved visiting Lawson Grange and performing to the homeowners. The children had a wonderful time singing, and we look forward to visiting Lawson Grange again in the future.”
