WILMSLOW-based Equilibrium Asset Management has awarded £500 to Chapter, a Cheshire-based charity, set up in 1991 to create a positive life for those experiencing mental health issues across Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston.

The charity will use the funds to organise several one-off group activities for its service users over the winter months.

Chapter chief officer Clare Ashworth said: “Equilibrium’s support goes much further than the initial donation.

“It means our polytunnel project can continue to be a place for vulnerable and isolated people with severe mental illness to go to make a new friend in a safe and welcoming environment.

“We are delighted that Equilibrium has supported our service users to develop greater confidence and learn new skills.”

The Equilibrium Asset Management Community Scheme supports organisations in the community which help disadvantaged people, promote sport and the arts, support education and development and benefit the environment in Chester, the Wirral and Wales.

Applications are reviewed quarterly, with grants awarded ranging from £100 to £500. The scheme only considers applications from groups whose work benefits the local community.

Projects that promote party political activities or religious causes, projects that benefit or involve animals and commercial enterprises are not accepted.

Equilibrium Asset Management has run the scheme since 2015 and awarded over £11,000 in funds to community groups.

Applications to the first round of this year’s community support scheme can be submitted until March 25.
