THE Clink restaurant in Wilmslow was host to more than 70 people on International Women’s Day last Thursday, March 8, as local charities gathered for an afternoon of inspirational speeches and delicious food.
The event was organised by Stockport-based charity SmartWorks in collaboration with The Clink Charity.
Together, the charities raised more than £2,000 during the event, which will help to support more clients and graduates over the next year.
SmartWorks is an organisation that supports women into employment through interview coaching, mentoring and personal styling. The event was also supported by the Aurora Store and Hello Day Planner, while the team at The Clink prepared the food.
Guests heard speeches from Fiona Gunnion, lead manager of SmartWorks Greater Manchester and Sophie Campion of The Clink Charity.
Helen Crompton, a graduate of both The Clink and former client of SmartWorks, spoke of the important role both charities have played in her life. Helen has since gone on to train other women using the skills and expertise that the charities have taught her.
Guests also heard a talk from business leader Sandy Lindsay, who spoke of her journey from council estate to MBE, and shared her tips for business success.
