PARENTS tasted success in their support for a school project after a bingo and curry night proved a huge hit.

The popular fundraiser was organised by the Friends of Mobberley PTA in aid of school field improvements at Mobberley Primary School.

It was eyes down for a memorable evening at Victory Hall in Mobberley, which raised more than £600.

“The money we made on the evening will be going towards improvements to our school field,” said PTA chairman Zoe Hargreaves.

“This is our main project for the year. The field is very undulating with poor drainage, and we want to be able to use the field all year round and offer more sporting activities to the children.

“We will be holding other fundraising activities throughout the year to try and raise more funds to help with the costs.”

Zoe thanked everyone who supported the fundraiser at the Victory Hall.

“Julie Eadie, who has worked at the school for many years, was our fantastic bingo caller,” she said.

“She really gets the crowd going, and everyone enjoys her sense of humour.

“One of the mums on the PTA, Bethany Kirkwood, is a chef based in Mobberley - Cuisine by Bethany - and made a delicious curry and side dishes to go with it.

“One of the other mums, Ailsa Birchenough, is a fantastic photographer - Ailsa Bee Photography - and took some photographs for us to put on our school website and Facebook page.

“We have a great team on the PTA who help to set up and tidy up the events, parents from the school help to donate raffle prizes for us and local businesses give us their support.

“Cottons Hotel in Knutsford was really generous, and donated a one-night B&B stay as our main prize for the evening.”

Zoe also thanked Mobberley Primary School headteacher Damien Stinson for his backing.

“He has really been a great support to the PTA and is open to new ideas and suggestions,” she said.

The PTA will be holding its summer fair at the school on Saturday, June 30 from midday to 3pm.
