A LIFESAVING initiative aimed at protecting communities against the threat of cardiac arrest is making vital progress across parts of Cheshire East.

A new, public access defibrillator has been installed at Tesco Extra petrol station at Handforth Dean, and an additional defibrillator has been donated to Tytherington Juniors FC as part of Lifepad Solutions’ aim to provide easy access defibrillators in high footfall areas, in case of emergencies.

In this instance, both defibrillators have been sponsored by family law specialists MWG Solicitors.

Irfan Munir, partner at MWG, said: “We pride ourselves as a company to be heavily involved in community initiatives, especially those that save lives. To know that we are protecting people’s wellbeing against the threat of cardiac arrest is an amazing thing.

“I know that some 60,000 adults and nearly 600 children die each year from cardiac arrest and with these defibrillators we can help to reduce those figures.”

Lifepad Solutions has already installed defibrillators at Tesco Handforth Dean and Mottram Hall golf club, among others across the region.

Jay Wood, manager at Tytherington Juniors FC, said: “We cannot thank MWG Solicitors enough for the donation of this vital lifesaving equipment. We have been desperate to get one for the team, but they are very expensive.

“It means everything to now have the peace of mind that we have one.”

Kevin Dryburgh, from Lifepad Solutions who arranged the sponsorship, said: “MWG Solicitors could not support this scheme quick enough. Their attitude to helping us achieve our goals has been superb.

“I would ask any local business looking for genuine branding opportunities that also help save lives to call us, so we can get more of our defibrillators in place.”
