TODDLERS and pre-schoolers have been rolling up their sleeves and getting green-fingered in a new gardening programme.
Children at Bright Horizons Summerfields Day Nursery and Preschool in Wilmslow have been making the most of a newly created gardening area as part of the organisation’s Growing Gardeners enhancement.
As part of the scheme, the children planted their own grass seeds into cups and stuck pictures of their faces on the front, which they called ‘grass heads’.
Karlie Wilde, deputy nursery manager, said: “The children really enjoyed taking care of their own plant by planting the seeds, watering them and watching them grow.
“We have talked about what the grass needs to grow and have been using scissors to cut the grass.”
Bright Horizons’ Growing Gardeners enhancement aims to provide children with opportunities to interact with the natural world.
