ALDERLEY Edge In Bloom have been given a community allotment in support of their entry to this year’s Britain in Bloom competition.

The plot of land was donated by Fenton Simpson, who manages the allotment site and is a committee member of the Alderley Edge Allotments and Garden Society.

The group were also given a new garden shed by local resident Peter Barrie, who offered to construct the shed after visiting the group at their recent volunteer drive in the village.

Christine Munro, Alderley Edge in Bloom volunteer, said: “We were so thrilled! And on top of that, we had 11 new volunteers put their names down.”

The group already has lots of plans for the allotment, including putting in seeds for the winter, growing plants that can be transplanted to the park or public planters, and bedding fruit trees and vegetables.

The group are also hoping to utilise the plot of land in their upcoming entry to the annual Britain In Bloom competition.

Christine said: “We want to show the judges what we have got, we have lots of plans to involve the whole community.”
