CINEMA on the Carrs is back this summer and voting for the feature film has re-opened after a shortlist of the most popular films was established.

The shortlist for the evening film is Top Gun, The Sound of Music (sing-a-long), and The Greatest Showman.

Over 1500 votes were cast over the past two weeks, proving that the outdoor cinema remains a popular event.

As always, there will also be a matinee film in the afternoon. This year’s clear winner of the public vote was Toy Story.

There will also be further afternoon entertainment, including the annual Cinema on the Carrs Duck Race organised by the Dean Row Guides, along with other family-themed activities.

Cinema on the Carrs is organised and funded by Wilmslow Town Council and is free to attend. As part of the event, part of the park will be given over to gazebos, to allow residents to plan their attendance in advance – regardless of the weather.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Despite the setbacks caused by the weather last year, the town council feels the event is fully supported by the public of Wilmslow and therefore have committed to providing the event in 2018.”

Cinema on the Carrs will take place on Saturday, June 9.

Voting for the main feature evening film is open now and closes at midnight on Tuesday, April 24.
