A TEEN from Wilmslow has made it through to the grand final of a national musical theatre competition.

Mia Connor, 16, impressed the panel of west end judges to make it through the first two rounds of the West End Calling competition and, after performing at the Stockwell Playhouse in London in the semi-final, was chosen to go through to the grand final, which will be held on Sunday, May 27, at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s newest theatre, The Other Palace.

Mia sang ‘She’s Not Me’ from the musical In The Light, and was one of only 12 contestants, all aged between eight and 21, to be selected by the judges.

Mia said: “I am very excited to be taking part again in West End Calling this year, after reaching the final last year. I have really enjoyed taking part and have learnt so much from the judges and other contestants and am very grateful for the opportunity.

“I love to sing, and I am at my happiest getting the opportunity to do that in front of a live audience alongside other great competitors.”

West End Calling is a nationwide musical theatre singing competition for young performers, which holds auditions all over the UK.
