A NURSERY in Handforth has been rated ‘Good’ in its latest inspection from Ofsted.
The Little Acorns Day Nursery, Wilmslow Road, impressed the inspector with its commitment to providing high standards of care and learning, as well as accurately assessing the children’s progress.
Kay Heaford, who carried out the inspection, said: “Staff provide a welcoming and caring environment where children are happy. They know children well and every child is valued. Children are encouraged to make choices and follow through their own thinking and play creatively.
“This prepares them well for their next stage of learning.
“Staff create a learning environment that reflects a multicultural society and diversity is promoted well throughout the setting.”
However, the report did state the reasons why the nursery is not yet outstanding.
Ms Heaford said: “Staff do not maximise opportunities to share detailed information with parents about their child’s ongoing learning and progress, supporting them to continue their children’s learning at home.”
In order to improve this, the report suggested the nursery should ‘strengthen arrangements’ for sharing detailed information with parents about their children’s achievements at the nursery.
A spokesperson for Little Acorns Nursery said: “We are committed to maintaining and extending high standards of care and pre-school education and endeavour to meet the requirements of each and every family that uses our facilities, believing that every child in our care should be respected as an individual.”
