MARKS & SPENCER has announced that it will close 100 stores across the country by 2022. 

Of the 100 stores, 21 have already been shut and M&S has now revealed the location of 14 further sites to close.

In a statement released this morning, the company stated: “M&S today announced the next tranche of UK stores proposed for closure or set to close as it reshapes its UK store estate in line with its target to take at least a third of sales online.

"M&S will now close over 100 stores in total by 2022, including 21 that have already closed and the 14 stores that are announced today as proposed for closure or set to close."

The 14 stores that have been named today include Bayswater, Fleetwood outlet store and Newton Abbot outlet store, which are due to close by the end of July this year. Clacton, Holloway Road, will close early next year. 

The other 10 proposed for closure are: Darlington, East Kilbride, Falkirk, Kettering, Newmarket, New Mersey Speke, Northampton, Stockton, and Walsall.
