ANIMALS will be among the star attractions at tomorrow's (Sunday) Wilmslow Show.

Feathery Folk, a family-run bird of prey business based in Congleton, will be there as part of their extensive show programme travelling throughout the north west.

They aim to share their enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, their birds using interactive, hands-on encounters.

At the show they will be running demonstrations, giving visitors the opportunity to dissect owl pellets, complete quizzes and do owl-themed art activities.

In the main arena, throughout the day, will be Jema Leopold with a number of her animal actors.

Jema trains horses, domesticated and farmyard animals for galas and stage performances.

Jema started working as a circus performer in 2003 and began training animals soon after.

Most of the ponies she works with now are rescue animals.

Jema said: "Horses are my life. I have learned so much about myself whilst training these wonderful horse and ponies.

"No two days are the same with them and you never know what to expect, which makes life full and interesting."

Wythenshawe Community Farm will be bringing a number of their animals to the show to showcase their charity but also give children the chance to see a range of animals close up.

In the dog arena, there will be dog obedience demonstrations and games.

For the younger members of the family, free donkey rides will be available throughout the day.

Chairman of the show, Angela McPake said: "We are delighted Jema and Feathery Friends are joining us at this year's show.

"There are a number of animals this year to get up close to as well as lots of experts on hand to tell our visitors about them.

"I am not sure I will be dissecting an owl pellet but my six-year-old son is likely to be first in the queue!

"Of course, all of this is alongside our, free to enter, fun dog show, where such classes as 'Waggiest Tail' and 'Handsomest Dog' are hotly contested!"

This year's Wilmslow Show runs from 11am to 5pm at the Carnival Field, Altrincham Road. There is a free park and ride service from Broadway Meadow throughout the day.
