RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on the draft Wilmslow Neighbourhood Plan, which is open for consultation until August 31.

Christopher Dodson, chairman of Wilmslow Town Council’s planning committee said: “I commend and congratulate the team of dedicated volunteers who have given up a great deal of time over the past 18 months to produce the extremely impressive document which, if approved by a majority of residents of Wilmslow, will influence planning decisions affecting Wilmslow up to 2030.

“No-one will agree with all the proposals in the plan, but I believe those of us who have up to now played no part in the preparation of the plan owe it to these wonderful volunteers now to read the plan and before August 31 make constructive comments on it.

“After so many consultations in recent years, where carefully-considered comments from the public appear to have been ignored, many of us have become deeply disillusioned with consultations.

“This one, however, is different. This plan is supposed to reflect the views not of Wilmslow Town Council or any special interest group but of the people of Wilmslow as a whole, including especially younger residents.

“In a few months’ time the plan will be examined by a planning inspector, who will want to see evidence that the plan truly reflects the wishes of the people of Wilmslow.

“If the planning inspector is so satisfied every elector in Wilmslow will be able to vote to either adopt or reject it.”
