A MAN was rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in mud.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Kings Road at around 6.45pm yesterday (Saturday, September 1) following reports that someone was trapped.

Four fire engines attended the incident and found that a man had become stuck in mud while he was walking near to the River Bollin.

Firefighters stabilised the man to ensure he didn't sink any further.

Crews then used a rope rescue kit to free the man.

The team were at the scene for around one hour.
