A CRASH involving several cars has blocked the M56.
Emergency services and traffic officers were called to the scene at around 6.15pm today, Sunday.
Highways England North-West report that traffic is not moving on the westbound carriageway between junction 9, A556, and junction 10, M6.
A spokesperson said: "The M56 westbound is blocked within J9, M6, due to a multi vehicle collision.
"Emergency services and traffic officers are on scene.
"There are approximately three miles of congestion on approach, so please use alternative routes if possible and allow extra travel time."
