DRIVERS are being urged to be vigilant after a spate of car thefts.

Vehicles have been taken from addresses across Wilmslow, often in the early hours of the morning.

Police are warning people to check their security and make sure keys are kept in a safe place.

When at home, keep your car key and spare well away from your vehicle and avoid leaving it near doors or windows.

A VW Golf was stolen from Vale Road between 2.40am and 3am on Tuesday, January 3.

Offenders helped themselves to keys after burning a lock to enter the house.

Thieves tried to break into a garage on Nursery Lane between 4pm on January 2 and 8am on January 3, by breaking the lock.

Offenders burnt the lock of a rear door of a vehicle on the same road before Christmas.

A grey BMW was stolen from Gravel Lane after thieves snapped a back door lock on a house and stole the keys from inside.

This theft happened between New Year's eve and January 1.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anyone acting suspiciously.

Police are also asking people to check their CCTV footage in case they may have captured some criminal behaviour.
