Knutsford Lions community fair hailed 'truly fabulous day'

Knutsford and District Lions Club has staged an annual fair on the Heath for more than 30 years.

Local charities and traders can showcase what their work and meet local residents.

Glorious sunshine attracted a big crowd to turn up for an action packed afternoon of fun and entertainment.

Enoch’s Hammer Country Dance Band and Birchwood Brass Band performed a selection of well known tunes.

Knutsford Fire Station, who are recruiting on-call firefighters in the local area, brought along their fire engine.

Face painting, donkey rides, trampolines, a bouncy castle, fairground rides and a play area kept children amused.

Welly wanging helped Scouts to raise funds for the World Scout Jamboree.

Hope Central challenged people to have a go at frisbee golf.

It’s A Dog-Knockout gave canine friends the chance to race around an agility course, provided by the Well Healed Dog Club.

Around 40 owners entered their dogs in the search for the prettiest pooch, waggiest tail and pouch most like its owner.

The fun competition was judged by Knutsford’s newly crowned May Queen Amelie McGill Anglin, Knutsford mayor Cllr Peter Coan and UNE’s Paul Langley.

Lions president Paul Buttrick said: ‘It was a truly fabulous day and everybody seemed to have a great time. “We are grateful to Tatton Estate for granting us use of the Heath and Knutsford Town Council for their support.

“We would not be able to run this event without the wonderful support from Knutsford Hosts and volunteers.

“We are so grateful to everyone who was involved, and of course the people of Knutsford who came to enjoy themselves.”

A selection of tasty treats included pizza, crepes, Greek streetfood and churros.

Beer from Tatton Brewery, coffee, wine and fizz from Tatton Perk provided a choice of drinks.

Ice cream proved very popular as the temperature soared to one of the hottest days of the year so far.

There is no charge for pitches and charity stallholders can keep any donations they receive on the day.

Commercial food and drink providers are asked to make a donation to the Lions Charity Fund.
