A SPECIAL tea party has been held to boost wellbeing and tackle loneliness.

Residents at Hazelmere House Bupa care home in Wilmslow came together to mark Silver Sunday, a day that celebrates the older generation.

Fun and laughter filled the lounge as people sang and chatted.

Favourite tunes including Lipstick On Your Collar, Pack Up Your Troubles In Your Old Kit Bag and Smile, Smile, Smile, rekindled happy memories.

Resident Josephine Porter, 91, said: “I had such a lovely day.

“I particularly enjoyed the homemade food.

“The chefs always do a brilliant job of treating us and they really pulled out all the stops.

“I had a good chat with lots of friends and even had the chance to meet some new people, which was brilliant.”

Resident Winifred Smith added: “We loved singing along with Rebecca Done.

“She sang songs we all knew and was great fun.”

Home manager Joanne Thackwell said: “It is incredibly important to help our residents experience new things and meet new faces.

“Our carers did a wonderful job of organising the activities and making sure there was something for everyone to enjoy.

“It was amazing to see all the residents have such a great day singing along to music.

“They never fail to put a smile on all the care teams’ faces.”
