A LEADER at the helm of an environmental campaigning group is standing down.

Stuart Kinsely has retired after seven years as chairman of Wilmslow Civic Trust.

This voluntary civic group is dedicated to ‘fostering a pleasant environment’ in the town.

Campaigners aim to raise awareness of issues concerning the landscape and buildings, preserving what is good in Wilmslow and vetting proposals for change.

The executive committee presented Stuart with a glass plaque recording thanks for his years as leader.

He described his timeserving as chairman as ‘fun’.

The role will now be shared by three trustees.
