Wilmslow U3A Science Group by Graham Leech
This month’s Science Group talk was given by Laurence Stamford, lecturer in sustainable chemical engineering at the University of Manchester on Fracking, economic benefits and environmental impacts, and was held at Wilmslow Library on Monday, June 1.
Shale gas and the process of ‘fracking’ have caused huge controversy recently. Will shale provide abundant, cheap energy for the UK? Or is it just an environmental disaster waiting to happen?
Science group talks take place in the Meeting Room on the first floor of Wilmslow Library. There is plenty of free parking on the adjacent car park. There is a small charge of £2 per person, payable at the door.
Non-members of the U3A may attend one talk at the standard rate, but thereafter they need to join Wilmslow U3A (£12 annual subscription).
Book seats in advance by emailing Graham Beech at gb.u3a@talktalk.net or ring 01625 402946 for more information.
