Chairman Julie Wade welcomed members to the meeting and thanked all those who had supported the plant sale last month, which raised £95 for club funds.

Julie then introduced the demonstrator, Don Billington of Liverpool, with the title ‘Out Of the Wood’.

Don entertained members with jokes and stories while producing an array of stunning flower arrangements.

He used a wide variety of flowers and foliage in his designs, including fatsia, hostas and ferns, delphiniums, peonies, orchids and roses.

Don also shared his wide knowledge of plants and flowers with members during the course of his demonstration.

The vote of thanks was given by Phyllis Stuffins.

The members’ competition this month was entitled ‘Bloomin Lovely’ and the winners in the various classes were: Novices and New Members 1. Lorraine Dorsett 2. Dorothy Dutton Intermediate 1. Felicia Dykstra 2. Lillie Gradel 3. Marilu Knowles Advanced 1. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne 2. Phyllis Stuffins Premier 1. Joan Wilkinson 2. Pat Bannister 3. Dorothy Monks The next meeting will be Wednesday, July 15 at Plumley Village Hall when the demonstrator will be National Demonstrator Beryl Cotton from Holywell with the title ‘Hold the Dream’.

The title of the members’ competition will be ‘Summer Table Setting’. Visitors are most welcome at a charge of £6.
